Careers
The number of employment opportunities available for legal office support staff continues to exceed the number of qualified applicants. Legal office support staff are employed in law firms; the county, state, and federal court systems; law enforcement agencies; corporate legal departments; title companies; abstract offices; insurance companies; banks; and finance agencies.
Employment
Employment opportunities and placement of legal office support students have been exceptionally good. Current studies indicate continued growth in the demand for legal secretaries and administrative support staff with a legal background. Graduates have a variety of occupational areas from which to choose, including probate and estate planning, corporate, real estate, family law, criminal law, civil litigation, worker's compensation law, bankruptcy, and new areas of law that are just emerging. Some graduates have obtained positions with the federal government working for the FBI, CIA, and the legal departments of the Veterans' Administration. Employment opportunities exist in county government offices, title and abstract companies and large corporate offices with their own legal departments.
