Program Overview

This 32-credit Administrative Assistant program provides students with the knowledge and skills to be successful administrative assistants while developing good attitudes and work habits. Students utilize computers for word processing, database, spreadsheets and data entry applications. A laptop computer, leased from the college, is required.

Instruction in keyboarding, transcription, calculators, filing, records management, telephone courtesy, accounting, written and oral communications, and a variety of computer software applications prepare graduates for a versatile administrative assistant career.

Qualifications

The curriculum is arranged so that students can enroll with no previous business training, however, training in keyboarding, grammar and basic math is helpful.

The Administrative Assistant program provides the necessary training to apply for an entry-level job. Students who earn their diploma in Administrative Assistant may also choose to enroll in the Administrative Office Management program to earn an Associate in Applied Science degree.
