Carpentry

Program Overview

Students are involved in planning, drawing projects, cabinetmaking and house planning for class projects. Classroom subjects cover care and use of tools, math, concrete, framing, cabinets, first aid, drafting and blueprint reading, estimating, construction management, contractor licensing, computers, CADD, human relations, and accounting. Shop class projects include small woodworking projects, building new homes, cabinets and light commercial construction.

Qualifications

Persons interested in the Carpentry program should be prepared to work under many different weather conditions. Good health is important to the prospective carpenter. High school shop classes are desirable but not required. Persons interested in being a carpenter should possess manual dexterity.
